About the Design
Acherontia Atropos - one of the three and most widely known species of Death's-head Hawkmoth.
This species name, Atropos, is related to death and derived from one of the three Moirai, goddesses of fate and destiny. More commonly knowing in English as the fates.
The Moirai controlled the life of every mortal from birth to death. They were independent, above all gods except for Zeus. Directed fate, assigned to every being by eternal laws was their independent destiny, without obstruction. Even the gods could not alter what was ordained.
In addition, the name Acherontia is derived from Acheron. A river found in Greece, that in Greek mythology was known as the river of pain. One of the five rivers of the Greek underworld.
